ART375 - Photographic Processes of Printmaking
Art 375 -‐ Project #1 Screen Print Edition
This semester you will be required to integrate multiple print process with each other. Meaning that a given process will be used again further in the semester with another processes. Your subject and/or content will be limited so that you will be able to solve the technical issues and be able to complete the combination of image and process in a reasonable amount of time.
To facilitate this I am limiting your imagery to what may seem like a rather narrow field. However there is a tremendous amount of room to find path to be creative with the given subject matter.
Ok so the challenge for you is to select a letter from the alphabet.
- It can be any letter in the alphabet A-‐Z
- It can be upper case or lower case.
- It can be any font that you feel draws you in.
The other icon that you will have to work with is a single digit number.
- It can only be a single digit meaning any number from 0 to 9
- It again can be any font you are attracted to.
Take some time make your choice to create some sketches of the letter and number with various combinations,
- Repeat them,
- Over lap them
- Do them as outline
- Have them interlocking.
The best program to develop these particular images is a vector-‐based program like Illustrator. This way you will have very clean edges and you will not have to worry about resolution issues like you do when working in Photoshop.
