Assignment:
Webpage design
Using Williams’ The Non-Designer’s Design Book and Williams and Tollett’s The Non-Designer’s Web Book as design guides, create a homepage followed by at least 4 separate, topically connected , pages. The homepage should introduce you and your topic. The following pages should each include a minimum of 250 words of original text. They may also include graphics, links to other sites, links to your own original work (you could link to your resume and your analytical report, for example, though these links do not count as your 4 separate topically connected pages, just as links). You might decide, as an ice hockey player, to create the ultimate ice hockey site, evaluate other ice hockey sites, provide history or photography on the sport, keep a regularly updated statistics page, establish a well-organized resource on international, national, collegiate and recreational teams, or create an interactive newsletter on the sport, soliciting contributions from those who visit your site. You might decide to create a "how to create a webpage" site for a specific interest group or for nontechnical designers. You might decide to explore a research area, such as ‘women on the web’. The topic you choose is entirely up to you, as long as it is appropriate (good rule of thumb-would your grandmother enjoy it?) and may be related to a personal, academic or professional area of interest. Remember all of the criteria for web evaluation. Also, apply the four design principles: proximity, alignment, repetition, and contrast. Have fun with this assignment and remember, we have technical support for you. Additional references you might find useful:
