Robot Information
This page is mostly links. There is a wealth of information on robots on the WEB. There are a number of books on designing, building and programming robots. Robots are doing more tasks that humans have been doing. Some pets are even taking over some tasks that humans do: Cat providing tooth brush to dog. These local pages cover details that may not have been covered well in other links or specifics to project(s) that are of interest to the author. Then, there is some tutorial information that may be used in a course. My robot interest is in the area of mobile autonomous robots. A mobile autonomous robot directs its own movements and performs some task without human intervention. No voice commands, no radio control, when turned on the robot does the job it is programmed to do. The mobile part may be a wheeled base, a tracked base, a crawling base, a walking base, etc. The task are not at fixed positions yet may be in a bounded area. I am not interested in lawn mower or vacuum cleaner robots. The robot must recognize objects related to the programmed task using sensor(s). The robot must manipulate the objects related to the programmed task using a gripper arm or other manipulation device. The robot must do some potentially useful function. See other references to the robot competition to pick up specific balls and put them through hoops. The robot must be able to safely operate in a typical home with children, pets, and all the other anomalous obstacles that may be present. My interest started over 30 years ago. At that time I gave a talk on "Household Robots". Just a little before their time. ;)A Robot Project
that interest me because of the use of a sensor and gripper arm on an autonomous robot with a potentially useful task.Robots, Servo Information"
some details on servos used to drive the wheels, steering, gripper arm, sensor pan and tilt, etc. on an autonomous robot.Robot Programming Considerations
not how to program, rather start thinking top down.Robot distance sensor
Understanding that robots get numbers rather than sight. My First Robot
A bit pricey, but needed to meet the project requirements.Survey of Other Robots
