SOIL ON CONCRETE ON SOIL, 1996
People are invited to walk on woodblocks, branches, stones to make prints and embossings. A print is also a sensory memory imprint. A reference to the sacred ritual of walking, and ambi-circulation. The soil is put back on top of the concrete, as a reminder of the history beneath the concrete that we walk on.
MEDIUM AND SIZE: Interactive installation at public space Justin Herman Plaza in Embarcadero Center in San Francisco. Woodblocks, branches, stones, soil, ink and paper. 3 ft. x 12 ft. each print.
