ART320 - Introduction to Printmaking

Course Description

This studio course introduces a variety of approaches to printmaking and the printing processes. Fundamental exploration in the processes of Intaglio, Relief and Lithography will be looked at. In each exploration will result in a final edition showing the expertice you have gained in the given process. Additionally there will many voacbulary and historical references that you will be expected to gain knowledge of. There will be many xample of the various process shown and discussed, with expectation that the participants will be able to tell one processes from the otehr by looking at the prints. Students should gain an in-depth understanding of the print process and how they relate to the fine art print.
Participants will be encouraged in understanding the use of the tools as a means of creating images in monoprint, etching, lithography and relief printing. The use and development of appropriate print process in establishing imagery is integral to this course. There is an emphasis on the print in a contemporary context, the development of critical skills and studio-based knowledge of sound printmaking practices.
