 Getting help

I have regularly scheduled office hours and you are encouraged to come in and ask questions about any topic. If you have a schedule conflict and can't come in during office hours, let me know and we'll find another time that is mutually agreeable. Your question may or may not be something covered in class or the textbook; you may even be looking for some guidance with regard to future courses, decisions about your major, career plans, etc. Try to let me know you are coming ahead of time so that I can make sure that time is available to discuss your concerns. Don't wait until after an exam; particularly if you are having difficulty, it's much better to ask for help in time to do something about it. You can also email questions to me, or you can send questions to the class news group. Someone else may come up with the answer before I even see the question. (See "going online" on the menu at left for instructions about using the newsgroup.)

You are also encouraged to consult other students in the class. It's useful to set up study groups that can help each other out by sharing notes, drilling each other before quizzes, and helping to explain concepts that may not have come across clearly the first time. Having a support group is preferable to doing everything on your own.
