Left #18: Amalie Jahn Friederici, taken in London, between 1867 and 1868. A younger portrait of Amalie can be found on #16 and a contemporary photo on #19.
Right #17: Ferdinand Friederici, taken in London, probably between 1867 and 1868.
Only 5 portraits were taken in London when the Friederici's lived there between 1865 and 1869. The other portraits include Amalie #19, and her two daughters Alma #20 and Jennie #21.
Ferdinand wears a decorative tie pin, while Amalie wears a Victorian cameo and earings perhaps imported from India. As artisan crafts in Europe was evolving into manufacturing, hand crafted jewelrey from the East became popular.
