Contemporary Developments in Literature and Culture: The American Experience in the Films of Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, and Martin Scorsese

Course Requirements

The Grade for English 347 will be based on four requirements:

1. A journal in which you record your comments on the films viewed both in class and out of class. Ordinarily the journal entry for each film should be from 400-500 words in length. These journals will be collected on Thursday of each week of class.

2. Two short essays (about 500 words) in which you discuss some aspect of the American Dream in two films of your choice. See the syllabus for due dates.

3. A final paper which will be due on January 23th. The topics for the paper will be assigned during the final week of class.
