The Five-Year Program

UMBC undergraduates have the option of continuing their study for an additional year to receive both the B.S. and M.S. degrees. The five-year M.S. program for UMBC undergraduates has special advantages:

  • Courses taken as an undergraduate (paying undergraduate tuition) can count toward the 30 graduate credits necessary for graduatio with a Master of Science (up to 9 credits)
  • Required courses of both the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Biological Sciences degrees can be applied toward the Applied Molecular Biology degree
  • By completing only 23 credits of graduate courses you could complete both a B.S. and M.S. in just five years
  • Students with extensive Advanced Placement credit might finish both degrees in four years!
  • Up to half of the entering class will be undergraduate students from UMBC

Take advantage of this unique opportunity! Train for a future in the growing field of biotechnology.

Each year we will have an Applied Molecular Biology Symposium to familiarize UMBC students with the program. Plan to attend the next one!
