This is a general to specific assignment in focus. In the first part of the assignment we will review sites on technology access in general. Then we will compile a list of sites of specific use to senior citizens with reference, as appropriate, to the needs of senior citizens.

Part A: URLs related to technology and technology access

In groups, review the following URLs to create an annotated list of links on technology and disabilities. Post the annotated list to the class list and print a hard copy of your comments. In your annotation, briefly summarize the content of each link. Rate it in terms of three criteria: authority, currency and objectivity (see criteria on my site http://www.umbc.edu/~carpente)
To complete this assignment, choose a scribe and a reporter; all group members will provide input to prepare a 10 minute oral presentation of your findings. As you complete the assessment, develop an organizational structure for the sites. You might, for example, arrange the sites by categories such as 'legislation', 'disability foundations and agencies', 'hardware and software vendors', as John Slatin does on his site:

Part B: URLs of exceptionally useful senior sites

In your groups review senior sites. Find the three online communities of most use to senior citizens or three excellent sites used by senior citizens. One of your three must address issues of access, it could be access to technology, to remote health care information, etc. Post the second annotated list to the class list and print a hard copy of your comments. In your annotation, briefly summarize the content of each link, explaining why it is a superior site.
