Instructional media competency checklist
The goal of this assignment is to demonstrate your ability to use the more common types of media/technology
available in most schools for classroom instruction.
You must demonstrate operating competency by showing that you can easily run the following pieces of
equipment and their related media:
- 16mm film projector (autoload and manual thread) - load, project, and rewind.
- 35mm slide projector - load and project.
- filmstrip projector - load and project.
- overhead projector - create two transparencies and use them with the projector.
- a hand-drawn transparency using felt markers plus at least one of the following
- a diagram-type transparency from a copy machine (enlarge or reduce the image)
- a map-type transparency from a thermal copier
- a text-based transparency from a laser printer (using appropriate computer software
- opaque projector - create a display item and use it with the projector.
- audiocassette tape - record a 30 second tape and play it back on the player.
- videocassette tape - record a 1 minute tape of live action from a TV source and play it back on the player.
- video camcorder - make a 1 minute tape of live action and play it back on the player.
A time will be scheduled to provide for individual tutoring (if needed) and checking off on each of the above
items.
