Using rapid filer and attaching files to e-mail

Copying a file with rapid filer

Rapid Filer streamlines file copy operations by letting you view (within two separate windows) the contents of two different file systems. You can then copy files from one window to the other, using several different techniques.

  1. Open the file system containing the file that you want to copy. This can be either a local file system or a remote file system.
  2. Open the destination file system. The destination can be to either a local file system or a remote file system.
  3. Select the file or files that you want to copy.
  4. Click the Copy button to transfer the selected file to the file system shown in the other window. Alternately, you can copy the file by dragging the file's icon to the adjacent window.
  5. When the copy operation is complete, the copied file or files will appear within the window for the destination file system.

Attaching files to e-mail

In some of your assignments, you are asked to attach it to an e-mail message. Go to Using attachments in pine for a brief explanation of what to do in Pine; it is assumed that you have moved the file to your Unix-account (see above). Go to Attach files and View/Save attachments to see what help is available on-line within Pine itself.
