The Dunes at Silver Lake
June 13-15, 2003

Just two days before my arrival, I'd never heard of Silver Lake, but due to a strange sequence of coincidences, I ended up in just that place, and now I'll never forget it. It was one of those trips where everything just happened to fall perfectly in place. I got in late Friday night and crashed at the Sierra Sands Motel. Saturday, I started out bright and early with a "Scooter" tour of the amazing sand dunes. After that, I hiked the dunes for a couple of hours from Silver Lake to Lake Michigan, then headed back to the lake to check out the dunes waterside on a WaveRunner. Next, I headed down to Little Sable Point Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse on Lake Michigan, and wandered around the beach for a while before heading back to the dunes for sunset. Sunday, I grabbed a dune buggy for a couple hours and took it out on the dunes for some high-octane-adrenaline-pumping adventure. Check out the pics below--
