Exercise #5: Self-Portrait Collages
Introduction to Computer Art
Instructor: Tiffany Holmes

Untitled by Josh Budich
Directions: You are going to create two self-portraits using
scanned photographic material. One
portrait tells the "truth" about who you are and one tells a blatant
"LIE." During the critique, we
will attempt to figure out who you really are.
IMAGE SPECIFICATIONS: Make images at 72 dpi. Each image should
measure no larger
than 640x480 pixels in dimension. Save as a Photoshop file so we can
view your layers.
ADDITIONAL PROJECT REQUIREMENTS:
1) Be prepared to JUSTIFY why exactly one image lies while one tells the
truth.
2) Please work from at least three different scanned images.
3) Save your image as a Photoshop file (it will be large) so that we can
view the process of
construction.
IDEAS: Think about the portraits shown during the slide talk about
surrealism. Consider using
images from your subconscious to construct a self-portrait.
Due: February 24, 1998.
