Short Bio
Ph.D., Statistics, Iowa State University, 1986
M.S., Statistics, Indian Statistical Institute, 1982
B.S., Statistics, Indian Statistical Institute, 1981
I joined the Statistics program at UMBC in 1986 as a junior faculty.
I was promoted to Associate Professorship in 1993, and to Full Professorship in 1999.
I was the Graduate Program Director for both Applied Mathematics and Statistics programs
from 1995-1999. I was appointed Interim Chair for 1999-2000. I have been the Chair since 2006.
My research interests lie in modeling correlated data collected over time or/and in clusters.
In particular, time series analysis and models for overdispersed categorical data. I like to participate
in real projects working side by side with scientists and engineers giving the best statistical advice to the projects.
Application areas I have worked with include, environment, transportation, agricultural and bio-mechanical engineering.
I am also interested in statistical computing, and more recently in parallel computing relevant to statistical methods.
