I've done almost exactly this (even with a Phaser, but using an Axis print server box to connect to the parallel port via ether, and not using Newsprint but rather the standard software that comes with Solaris 2). I've replaced postio with a program called `lp_ps' which I got from Aberdeen from someone who's email address I've managed to lose. I've made a few alterations, including the ability to write and receive over different channels, which are of course completely undocumented. I'm afraid I haven't got time to do this at the moment, although I'll try to get round to it soon, but I've put the whole lot in ftp.csv.warwick.ac.uk:/pub/misc/lp_ps.tar.gz in case people are interested. the interface script we use for the phaser, and other laser printers, with support files.
