Extra Problem
A thermally insultaed container is divided by a partition into two
compartments, the right compartment having a volume b times as large
as the left one. The left compartment contains v moles of an ideal
gas at temperature T and pressure p_bar. The right
compartment also contains v moles of an ideal gas at the temperature
T. The partition is now removed. Calculate
- the final pressure of the gas mixture in terms of p_bar;
- the total change of entropy if the gases are different;
- the total change of entropy if the gases are identical.

- You can write the energy U = (N-n)*0 + n * (epsilon) and
then use a binomial distribution for getting Omega.
- Pblm 9.4
- Use the results of pblm. 9.3. To check if you equation of
state is correct, see if it reduces to the ideal gas equation of state for
epsilon much less the kT.
