Course Content: This course will provide an analysis of a variety of theories about the meaning of human existence. We shall examine a variety of theories of human nature, with the goal of reaching an understanding of the human person as defined in contemporary thinking. In addition to understanding a number of philosophical views on human nature, students will examine applications and consequences of holding the philosophical views that we examine. It is hoped that these views will have an impact on how we view human existence and on how we interpret our experience.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Major theories of human nature.
  2. To learn how to reflect Philosophically.
  3. To gain insight into the nature of Philosophical argumentation.
  4. To learn how to understand and evaluate the Philosophical positions of the Philosophers we study.

3. 1 5-7 page paper 30%

4. Participation 10%
