Critical Analysis and Management

Course: GPHL 507 Instructor: Richard L. Wilson

 

 

Course Content: We will be concerned in this class with a variety Of topics that will be aimed learning skills related critical analysis and applying them to issues directly related to business. Specifically we shall examine the nature of logic and logical reasoning and apply them to our discussion of the nature of a business entity. We shall then move to a discussion of the silicone breast implant controversy. We shall combine our discussion of this controversy with the discussion a variety of tools employed in decision making. Specifically we shall discuss decision making under certainty and decision making under risk, evaluating complex outcomes, reasoning about probabilities, reasoning about causes, and risky decisions with complex outcomes. Finally we shall close the semester by discussing different view of the nature of business and the business world and our place within it.

Grading: Students will be given the option of working on either of two projects.
