A Prosper tutorial

Prosper is a LaTeX documentclass for producing slides. The typical output is a PDF file which is suitable for on-screen viewing, but Postscript output for printing on paper or transparencies also can be produced.

The purpose of this document is to provide a quick overview of the structure of Prosper's input file. It assumes that the reader is knowledgeable about LaTeX.

About this tutorial

I have written this tutorial primarily for the use of graduate students in the department of Mathematics and Statistics at UMBC. I have assumed throughout, without elaboration, that the underlying operating system is Linux or something UNIX-like, because that's what we use in the department.

Since LaTeX and Prosper are platform-independent, examples and advice given here should carry over to other platforms. The specifics of compilation and execution, however, will vary; you will have to consult with your local TeXnician if you need help with that.
