Question:   When I attempted to do the reading for Topic #3, I ran into a problem. Clicking on the SECOND TREATISE OF GOVERNMENT BY JOHN LOCKE (1690) would not allow me to reach the site. I was wondering if you could recommend a course of action for me to take since there are no more booklets in the book store

Answer:   Two points:

(1) The Book Center will print additional copies of the Course Pack as needed, so if you want to buy it (and it's not on the shelf) go the textbook desk and tell them -- they may have additional copies in the storeroom or, if not, will print additional copies.

(2) I think what you did on the web page was to click on Locke's 2ND TREATISE OF GOVERNMENT under "Supplementary Documents." This link apparently has gone bad (I'll try to find an alternate) but in any case it's NOT what you want (it's the whole book). Rather you should click on "Course Syllabus" (the very first item), find topic #3, and see that the non-textbook readings are highlighted indicating links. These links are good and what comes up is just the assigned excerpts. Incidentally the same applies to Hobbes -- if you click on Hobbes' LEVIATHAN under "Supplementary Documents" you'll get the entire book, not just the two assigned chapters.
