GEOG 111 Fall 2000
Assignment for Chapters 3 and 4 in Tarbuck and Lutgens
POSTED UNTIL TUESDAY, SEPT. 26 at 9:30 a.m.

For the next topic, igneous rocks and volcanic activity, (1) read all of chapters 3 and 4, and (2) work through the CD-ROM section on Earth Materials,  part D. Igneous Rocks, and Internal Processes, part D. Igneous Activity.  If you feel confident you might even try your hand at the Rock Review at the end of the Earth Materials section, though of course we haven't covered the sedimentary and metamorphic rocks yet.

Use the first quiz below to drill yourself on the material in the chapter. (Several of the questions repeat each other, but all of the multiple-choice questions are valid and correct.) You can also try the fill-in-the-blank questions through a link at the end of the quiz. Note that there may be valid alternatives for some of the specific answers given there.

report to the discussion board with the following information:

You can consult the bookmarks list on this topic from the online syllabus for
some sources of infomation, but you can also use other resources to look for a
good example. A good, coherent explanation will count for more than a couple of
brief lines of basic information without an explanation.

MAKE SURE YOU SELECT AN EXAMPLE THAT HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN
DESCRIBED BY OTHERS POSTING A RESPONSE TO THIS QUESTION -
(unless, that is, you find information that is substantially different from or even
contradicts information provided by someone else before you!)
