Process  Engineering  Economics  and  Design  II

As in any chemical engineering department there is a final capstone course.   ENCH 446  is such a class for us at UMBC.  We divide students in groups and guide them through the Design of a whole plant.

Highlights of the course are: individual presentations that last between 20-25 minutes; use of a simulator and a final presentation with the majority of the Department as an audience.

My favorite part of the course is watching how students end up owning their project and how proud and intellectual they are while presenting their semester’s work - while at the same time having fun.   They have this engineering aura  all over. I can see they are ready to go out and conquer the world (a bittersweet moment for a professor).

This course could not have been possible without the help of Al Center.  Thank you very much Al!
