EHS 641 - EHS Law and Policy
EHS Law and Policy is one of the initial required courses within the EHS master's degree program. Information regarding laws, regulations and policy serves as part of the foundation of every medical service operation. In order to meet the challenges of managing EMS systems, a working knowledge of legislation (both current and pending) for the jurisdiction, state, region, and nation is critical. EMS managers need to develop the skill to interact with legislators, lobbyists and other allied health professionals to implement laws and policies advantageous to their organization. This course exposes the student to current laws and regulations, governing bodies responsible for those regulations and helps the students begin to develop the abilities required to stay current and survive in the changing regulatory environment.
EHS 652 - Human Resources Development
Human resources development is one of several key components that make up a high performance EHS system as well as a necessary skill for managers of HPEHS systems. The personnel making up the modern day EMS workforce are the backbone of the operation. Without accurate information on current human resources issues, managers and leaders of EMS systems are vulnerable to personnel problems.
PHED 122D - Self Defense and Safety for Public Service Personnel
Emergency medical services, health care and other public service personnel have high rates of occupational injury and assault. This course is designed to reduce risks through education, increased awareness and improved physical fitness.
