INSTRUCTIONS



Introduction


The World Wide Web is an on-line source of communication on the Internet. UMBC students will find this information very helpful in their search for employment after graduation. The most important pieces of equipment are the computer and the mouse attached to it. These can be found in the Engineering and Computer Science Building.


Body


After students have gained access to computers, there are some very important steps that they will need to follow. These steps will ensure a successful job search has been performed. First, the power on the computer must be on. This includes the keyboard and the monitor. Second, after the computer has finished housekeeping, the student will see the words, "press any key". This action must be taken to proceed with the search. Third, the left button on the mouse needs to be double clicked on Windows 3.1 which is number eight on the Main Menu. Fourth, the left mouse button must be double clicked again on the World Wide Web icon. Fifth, the left mouse button needs to be double clicked on the Netscape icon. This will enable the student to begin the job search. Sixth, the left mouse button must be clicked on the screen where it states: http://. Seventh, type in the chosen address which will begin with http://,etc.


Conclusion


After students have completed their job searches, the computers must properly be turned off. Students need to exit from Netscape, World Wide Web and Windows 3.1. To exit from Netscape, the left mouse button needs to be clicked on File. Then, one must click the left mouse button on Exit. To exit from World Wide Web, one must double click the left mouse button on the grey box in the upper left corner twice. Also, one must exit from Windows 3.1. To do this, one must click the left mouse button on File. Then, one needs to click the left mouse button on Exit. When the computer states that this will end your Windows session, click the left mouse button on OK. Lastly, the student needs to turn off the monitor and the keyboard.
