Funeral in Berlin (1966)
Michael Caine Caine, repeating his role from The Ipcress File, stars as Harry Palmer, the British sergeant forced to become a counterspy. This time Palmer is sent back to Germany, where his espionage career began, to contact Colonel Stok (Homolka), the Russian head of security for the Berlin Wall. Stok is anxious to defect, and Palmer arranges his escape only to be double-crossed by everyone and his brother. A bit poky, the film isn't quite up to the original, but it's rather better than most sequels of this kind. Featuring a fine cast (Homolka is always worth watching), Funeral in Berlin provides an excellent look at the spy business and an interesting view of postwar Berlin. One more sequel , Billion Dollar Brain, followed.
