Final Examination

English 347, Winter, 2001

Please write a 1,000-1,200 essay 0n one of the following topics.

1. Choose one of the following Hollywood film genres and discuss the way they have been used to dramatize the political and/or cultural upheveals which took place in America during the 1960s.

A. The war film.

C. The domestic melodrama.

2. Choose the films we have seen of one of one of the following directors and discuss the manner in which 1960s America has influenced his work.

A. Ridley Scott.

B. Mike Nichols.

C. Clint Eastwood.

D. Robert Zemeckis.

Feel free to include films not on the syllabus if you wish, but you must discuss the required films.

All exams are due no later than 3:00 PM on Friday, January 26, 2001
