Senate Colleagues-
I have drawn up a petition requesting a special session of Faculty Senate to be held
October 23rd 3:30-5:30 in the LIbrary, Room 767 (our regular place) in order to
organize a Senate response (or responses) to recent events around Title IX
compliance, sexual assault, and sexual misconduct on our campus. 
Per Faculty Senate bylaws, 6 signatures are required in order to present Gunes with
the request. I have been in touch with Gunes this morning and he would like a
petition with actual (not electronic) signatures. Since we need a 3-day lead time,
if we can present this petition to him tomorrow, we could have the meeting on
Tuesday.
I am attaching the petition below so you can review it, but if you are willing to
sign the petition, I would ask you come to the English Department office (423 PAHB)
to physically sign the petition. Once, there are 6 I will submit a copy to Gunes,
but anyone who would like to sign (above and beyond 6) is welcome. The more, the
better I suspect.
