Monitoring gene expression in yeast:

Note: An example that shows how GFP could be used for quantitative promoter study. In this study, the effect of initial galactose (inducer) concentration on GFP expression kinetics was exploited.  It showed that GFP expression was slow at low initial [gal], the expression rate increased with increasing initial [gal] and reached the maximum expression above certain initial [gal] (about 1 g/L in this case).
