Jellyfish Aequorea victoria: one of the oldest species on the earth
How it fluoresce in nature:
Step1.Calcium binds to photoprotein aequorin;  Step2. Aequorin emits blue light
Step3. GFP absorbs blue light;     Step4. GFP emits green light

History:
Discovered by Shimomura at 1962, cloned by Prasher at1992.
Now different color mutants available: blue, yellow, cyan
Russian scientists discovered red fluorescent protein from deep sea coral in 1999
