UDP/IP

• IP carries out fragmentation

• IP performs datagram re-assembly at destination

• If the IP DF flag is set and ICMP error occurs the datagram is discarded

• Each fragmented IP datagram becomes it’s own IP packet

• Fragmentation causes performance loss
