Math 221 - Introduction to Linear Algebra

Summer 2006 - Matthias K. Gobbert

Detailed Schedule - Last Updated 06/22/06

This schedule is designed to give you an overview of the material to be covered and a detailed schedule of all due dates of homework and quizzes, and the dates of the tests. The schedule is designed to ensure that you come to class with the necessary information for most effective use of the face-to-face time in class, during which you will work in groups on homework problems. The goal is for you to leave class with a complete understanding of the scheduled sections and all questions about the homework fully answered. Note that the details of this schedule are tentative in nature and will be updated throughout the semester.

The hybrid format of the course means that additional on-line help for your learning will be provided, including guides to the reading for each section covered, worked examples with voice-over, on-line quizzes with immediate feedback, and a discussion board available for questions and help every day of the week. You must accept responsibility for using these tools effectively and consistently with the learning goals of the course. This includes in particular studying the scheduled sections of the textbook, reviewing worked examples posted in Blackboard, and taking taking the quizzes in Blackboard before coming to the face-to-face meetings in class. Your time spent on-line is accounted for by the shortened in-class time on the one hand and added availability of the help and of the instructor on-line.

Please, see the learning plan and for more information on the goals and study suggestions. See the homework page for the detailed list of problems for each section.

The chapter and section numbers refer to the text, David C. Lay, Linear Algebra and Its Applications, third edition, Addison-Wesley, 2003 (or update 2006).
