Carlo Alessandro Landini

Bio

Born in 1954, Landini earned a diploma in Composition and Pianoforte in Milan in 1978. He continued his studies in Composition in Paris as a student in the class of Ivo Malec at the prestigious Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique, achieving in 1981 the Prémier Prix by unanimous vote of the jury. Landini also attended courses in Siena with Donatoni Franco, then with György Ligety, Iannis Xenakis, and Witold Lutoslavsky. In 1981 the Department of Education of the United States awarded him a Fullbright Grant, and he spent two years (1981-1983) in the United States , studying and teaching at the University of California to San Diego.

From this time, Landini has alternated the activity of composer with that of essayist and teacher. Awarded in numerous national and international competitions, he has received regular invitations from the "Ferienkurse für neue Musik" of Darmstadt . His music is published in Milan by Rugginenti and Sonzogno, by Edi-Pan in Rome, and Alphonse Leduc in Paris. Three CDs of Landini's three Sonate for Pianoforte have been released, in addition to three anthological CDs, of which two are published by Edi-Pan with pieces for pianoforte (To Ramacci) and guitar (P. Bonaguri), and one by Rugginenti (the pianoforte contemporary). He has also been published in numerous books (of saggistica, poetry, music aesthetics), and collaborates regularly with a number of newspapers.
