David D. Roberts received his B.S. in Chemistry in 1976 from the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology and his Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry in 1983 from The University
of Michigan. After postdoctoral training at Michigan and in the Laboratory of
Biochemical Pharmacology of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive
and Kidney Diseases, he became a Research Chemist there in 1987. In 1988 he
assumed his current position as Chief of the Biochemical Pathology Section of
the Laboratory of Pathology in the Center for Cancer Research of the National
Cancer Institute, NIH in Bethesda, MD. He has served on a number of peer review
panels and journal editorial boards. His recent research focuses on the role of
thrombospondins in regulating vascular cell behavior
and redox signaling, regulation of tumor immunity by
thrombospondin-1, and host-pathogen interactions that contribute to
disseminated Candida albicans
infections.
