Postodoc opening in PDE-constrained optimization
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Maryland Baltimore County invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Applied Mathematics, beginning Fall 2026. We particularly welcome candidates with research interests in numerical methods for the optimal control of partial differential equations.
This is a fixed-term appointment, with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, with an emphasis on computational methods, or a closely related field by the start date. The position includes a reduced teaching load.
Applicants should demonstrate expertise in at least two of the following areas: numerical analysis of partial differential equations, optimization, numerical linear algebra, and continuum mechanics.
