Due Tuesday, April 28th
Please write a one page proposal abstract for your final project. This abstract should be a focused discussion of what your piece will consist of and your ideas behind it.

The following list should help you focus your thoughts. You don't have to have an answer to these questions right away. However, they will help you focus.

Who is the audience?
Why are you making this piece?
What do you hope other people will get from the piece?
What is your attitude?
Are you bring critical, funny, serious, educational, personal....?
What is the concept or idea that ties all the parts together?
Where are you going to get your materials from?
What do you hope to achieve with this work?

P A R T 2

Overview:
You are going to be creating an electronic artist's book. The subject matter, or content of the book is entirely up to you. The purpose of the project is to help you think in terms of a series, or sequence of images.
The book is due for informal critique on Tuesday, May 12th.
The final Critique will be held during finals week, Thursday, May 21st.

Some ideas.... *Remember this interpretation should be personalized.
1. Animate a favorite poem or song in 8-10 frames. * Remember your interpretation should not be literal, that is, do not illustrate the lyrics.

2. Create a visual narrative from a fairy tale or other legend.

3. Produce a transformation project. Take one image and turn it into another in 8-10 frames.

4. Create a "zine" that sets forth your thoughts and opinions about a particularly newsworthy event ( I.e. The Jonesboro tragedy).

5. Select two opposing concepts. Then create "pages" with text that refers to one of your concepts and imagery that references the other to create a series of oppositions between text and image. Example: Use appropriated texts referring the absurdities of family life (William Faulkner) and images that refer to sections of your own upbringing.

Presentation:
Do not make images larger than 640x480 pixels or smaller than approximately 3x5". ALL images (72 dpi) must be the SAME SIZE. The book must consist of a minimum 8 frames. Your book must be in an animated electronic format. In other words, your images must be presented as a Director piece or as an Animated Gif.

Grading Criteria for Final Project:

Consistency of vision
Creativity and originality of idea
Effective use of appropriate materials
Technical proficiency
Overall coherence
Your resourcefulness within the electronic environment
Effective planning and consistent progress

Final Project is worth 20% of overall grade.
