
Course Description: Supply chain management (SCM) involves the management of activities surrounding the flow of raw materials to the finished product or service enjoyed by end consumers. Modern information technology (IT) has significantly improved supply chain operational efficiency and become an integrated part of SCM practice. This course offers an integrated framework for discussing current IT applications across the supply chain. It first provides an overview of the fundamental principles and tools for SCM, including procurement management, inventory management, production management, logistics, and global supply chain strategies. It then examines the business value of IT in SCM and new Internet-based supply chain models. Finally, the course focuses on the implementation and management challenges of the digital supply chain, the service supply chain, and the healthcare supply chain. It concludes with green IT solutions to SCM and issues related to building socially and environmentally responsible supply chain.
