The Arts and Society in the Spanish-speaking World (C) [3]



This course examines art in the Spanish-speaking world in the context of its linguistic, ethnic and cultural diversity and complexity. Representative works of the visual arts, music, and architecture from Spain and the Americas, both Ancient and Contemporary, are discussed and analysed. The course makes extensive use of audiovisual materials and the World Wide Web to access museum and private collections. Taught in English. No knowledge of Spanish required. Students may take MLL 345 or MLL 245 but not both. Prerequisite: Junior or senior standing.
