Complete IFSM 303 WWW Page Linkage
Created on the IFSM 303 Page of Your Directory

Due on Tuesday, July 23rd at 5:00 p.m. - Late submissions and reaccomplishments will not be accepted
Course value: 5 %

You are now going to add some additional features to your web site that will include further
navigation and several design enhancements.

Web pages should be maintained and enhanced regularly, and you should always consider
making design modifications as you expand the contents and scope of your pages. For
example, headers, sub-headers, labels, and groupings and the placement of groupings on
pages are important design concerns. You should always be thinking in terms of proper
placement and organization, etc. as your pages develop. Remember that the purpose of your
site is to convey information to the user. The user's task is to assimilate and use the
information. Your task is to facilitate the user's task!

In this assignment you are expected to work with the IFSM 303 page that you have already
created in assuring that it is attractively designed with appropriate titles, sub-titles, spacing,
alignment and groupings. Further, you will be creating four new pages within your www
directory for future course work.

There should be coherence within each page and consistency between your pages. All links,
both between your own pages and to sites external to your directory, should be clearly labeled
and easily apparent to the user. Use of background texture, colors, graphics, animation,
sound, etc., are to follow screen design guidelines covered in the text and lecture. Adherence
to design guidelines and project specifications will be evaluated. Be aware that features may
appear differently on different browsers and/or screen resolutions. Strive for quality and
elegance rather than "glitz". See "Relevant URLs" for excellent sites to help you in making your
site excellent in all respects.

Enhance your 303.html page in accordance with the following requirements:

First, plan an overall page design that incorporates the use of color, tables and, if you wish,
graphics.

Next, create two separate tables, each of these tables will hold two links. Each table should
have a distinct and meaningful title centered over it that will identify the contents of the table.

The first table should contain two separate links with a distinct labels/titles that take the user to
the IFSM 303 WebCT Introductory Screen at
http://www.umbc.edu:8900/public/IFSM303/index.html
and to the IFSM 303 BlackBoard site at:
http://bb-app1.umbc.edu:80/bin/common/course.pl?course_id=_2454_1&frame=top

The second table will contain links to two other pages within your www directory.

The first of these links will be to a new page within your directory for your Interests/Hobby
page. Your personal interest or hobby will be something about which you are especially
interested. This page will actually be developed and will contain several statements regarding
an area or areas of personal interest to you. This page will also have at least two links to sites
external to your own directory that represent this interest. This page should also have a link
back to the 303 page. This page will be further developed in the next assignment.

The second link within this table will be to a new page within your www directory that will
contain your abstract of your Interface Analysis Report. You are to actually create and label
this page; though, at this point, it need have only a title and a link back to the 303 coursework
page.

Check and double check!

Do a "usability" study on your own pages. Do all links work properly? Does the user have the
feeling that they are always within the same site? Are headings and labels clear and
meaningful? Are links attractively and clearly presented? Are graphics, if used, relevant? Do
the colors used allow for proper contrast for comfortable reading of text? Does your site
convey to the user what you want it to convey? Does it portray the image you want to "the
world"? Can the intended user do the required task based on the information you are
presenting? Are there other issues you feel need to be tested?
