When upgrading to 2.3, the patches wouldn't be backed out. Instead, the package instances installed by pacthes are removed (in principle, this only modifies /var/sadm/install/contents).
After upgrading, the pathc directories where removed (only those that had been superceded by the upgrade, not, e.g., compiler patches.)
Edit /etc/systems: set rstchown = 0 Reboot.
SERVER=... SERVER_TYPE={bsd|s5} PRINTER_NAME=... lpsystem -t $SERVER_TYPE $SERVER lpadmin -p $PRINTER_NAME -s $SERVER -I any accept $PRINTER_NAME enable $PRINTER_NAMEThis is *very* easy to roll into a script where you just create a list of SERVER/SERVER_TYPE/PRINTER_NAME triplets.
