A Day in the Life of...Me.
Welcome to my home page!

I am a Professor in the Department of History at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where I have taught since 1989. As a young teenager I became  enthralled with East Asian culture, particularly that of Japan, a country in which I have lived for seven years and traveled to more than twenty times. But I also love my Greek heritage, and in recent years have sought to combine these two areas, most recently by acting as a consultant to university officials there on the establishment of Asian Studies programs, delivering a lecture in Athens on samurai and through plans to present workshops there on Japanese film.
