Mary Carroll, History on the Internet for the Professional Development of Secondary School Teachers.  This project, undertaken through participation in the Center for History Education's "History on the Internet" workshops in the UMBC Department of History, will attempt to provide secondary school teachers with the resources necessary to utilize the Internet to teach history specifically using the topic of the European witch hunts. This project will include preparing an 80 minute presentation that covers the place of the witch hunts in the history of early modern Europe and the historiography surrounding the topic as well as showing several Internet sites and how they could be used in the classroom.

Nick Fry, Ghosts of the Old Main Line: Documenting Historic Rural Structures.  The Baltimore and Ohio "Old Main Line" runs from Baltimore, Maryland to Point of Rocks, Maryland. For over a century it was an essential part of many small agricultural communities in Central Maryland. Now, with the passage of time, and the decreasing use of the "Old Main Line", it is essential to document the structures that were built on it for agricultural and commercial use before they are lost to development. My project will involve making a digital photographic record of these structures according to the Historic American Building Survey photographic standards, and they will be made available to the public via the internet.

Deborah Gayle, Processing the Zionist Organization of America records at the Jewish Museum of Maryland.  I will be working with the archivist to arrange the files and write a finding aid, but our volunteers will be helping with the preservation work.

Robert Hanyok, Joint Exhibit on Military Women in Cryptology.  This project is a joint effort between the Women's in Military Service for America and the National Security Agency's Center for Cryptologic History. The purpose is to develop and realize a multifaceted effort to publicize the contribution to American cryptology by servicewomen.  The project includes a joint permanent exhibit in the display center of the Women's Memorial, a sharing of databases of servicewomen rosters and oral histories, and the sponsoring of a lecture series concerning the roles and outstanding individual service women in American cryptology.

Sharon Knecht, Archival assessment and  finding aide for the Society of Protozoology organizational records.  The project involves inventorying, preserving, ordering, describing and creating a finding aide for the records. The organizational records are comprised of officer correspondence, mail outs, financial records, minutes, committee reports and publications. They are housed in Special Collections at the Albin O. Kuhn Library where the student is a graduate research assistant.

Warren Markert, Freedom of Information Act request for classified documents.

Paul Rubenson, Exhibition script for the BMW Vintage Museum at Bob's BMW Motorcycles This 1000 square foot museum exhibits a corporate collection of motorcycles, accessories, and ephemera. I propose to write a museum script including text panels and object labels. In addition to the chronological story of BMW's technical and marketing evolution, the script will address two special topics: "Women and BMW motorcycles" and "BMW motorcycle longevity and rider support."

Ronald Simon, Using Corporate History to Create Context For Today's Business Transactions.  Just about every Friday, Bruce Weindruch, founder and CEO, The History Factory, is asked to present a historical perspective on current financial news stories appearing on CNNfn. The purpose of this program segment is to create the "big picture" of finacial transactions for the business community. The focus covers both economic and social context for companies, individuals, and/or patents. Besides reporting the information, visual images are need to aid the presentation. A complete package must be formulated and approved in a rapidly manner, thus the program stays current and relevent with the weeks stories.
