You will find the dates for all quizzes and the readings covered listed in your Daily Plan. Quizzes will require you to write a paragraph for each of the three questions. You receive one point per answer.
Here's where it gets interesting. Again, I'm thankful to Prof. Kari McBride for this particular format of quiz. After each individual has finished the quiz, you will have the opportunity to take the quiz one more time, but with your peers in your research group. I will pass out one copy to each group. One person will record your collective answers. Again, each answer counts as one point. If all three answers on both individual and group quizzes are correct, your best total quiz grade will equal 5 points.
Why bother with group quizzes? Here are some reasons:
- they provide an opportunity for a smaller group discussion; people who
may not want to talk in a larger group, often find smaller groups more
welcoming
- they offer the opportunity for looking at the same information in very
different perspectives; your answers on your individual quiz provide a
starting point which may very well expand when you hear
others' input
- they provide group cohesion and identity, which will help your group to
better focus and work on your particular research topic
