Dr. Lee selected for Supplement for Undergraduate Research Experiences (SURE) award to support Mr. Randy Deinlein's dental bracket design research.

Dr. Jung presented his research entitled "Self-Start Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting Circuit with Adjustable UVLO Converter for Wireless Sensor Network" at ASME SMASIS 2017 (Snowbird, UT).

Dr. Lee was invited to Kunsan National University to give a short lecture on topology optimization for wind turbine design. Also had invited talks on energy harvesting (Korea Research Institute of Standards abd Science, etc) and topology optimization for additive manufacturing (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, etc).

Dr. Lee invited Dr. Dong S. Ha from Virginia Tech in UMBC ME department seminar seriies, who spoke on "Power Management Circuits for Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting."

Dr. Lee (with Dr. Melo, UMB dental school) was invited to 2017 UMBC-UMB Partnership Symposium and presented research collabration on bio energy harvesting to use the movement of people’s own jaws to provide the energy for deep brain stimulation.

Mr. Mullen presented his research entitled "Optimization of an Electromagnetic Energy Harvesting Backpack under Actual Walking and Running Scenarios" at ASME SMASIS 2016 (Stowe, VT).

Dr. Lee awarded UMB-UMBC Research & Innovation Partnership Seed Grant for his collaborative research with UMB school of dentistry (CoPI: Dr. M. A. Melo) on "A biocompatible and implantable dental energy-harvesting prototype for a self-powering brain stimulator."

Amin presented his research entitled "Parameter Study and Optimization for Piezoelectric Energy Harvester for TPMS Considering Speed Variation" at SPIE SS/NDE 2016 (Las Vegas, NV). Kabir's undergraduate research work has been also presented by Dr. Lee, entitled "Mechanical Motion Conversion from Reciprocating Translation to One-Directional Rotation for Effective Energy Harvesting"

Chris won the first place prize in 11th PROMISE Research Symposium and Professional Development Conference (UMCP, MD). His work is entitled "Optimization of an Electromagnetic Energy harvester." Congrats!

02.2016:

Dr. Lee awarded UMBC COEIT Strategic Plan Implementation Grant (PI: Dr. M Younis) for his collaborative research on "Prototype Development for a Networked Multi-Modal Sensor System for Autonomous Non-intrusive and Self-sustaining Pipeline Monitoring"
