Another idea that I've been playing with for sometime now, is the physical manifestation of enlightenment. I've started to build a foundation around my idea that death is actually a form of evolution, in which the physical body is discarded when it is no longer needed because the mind has become one with the forces outside. Ok, before you start to question my sanity, and start asking for the drugs I've been taking (Russian vodka mostly), let me back up and explain.
There is an idea in psychology that the human brain is capable of knowing everything that is happening in the world, at any given time. This idea states that we are forced to filter everything out though, that does not directly effect our immediate surroundings and situations. The idea is also taken further and sometimes states that ESP and the like come from people having defective filters. These people are getting extra signals from the universe. The idea can also go into the area that certain mental disorders, in particular schizophrenia and manic depression, are also caused by faulty filters. In this case these people are getting signals that they are not able to deal with, and so their mind's just shut down.
Huxley takes this idea into the realm of psychedelics, with the Doors of Perception. Where he talks about how psychedelics help us to remove some of the filters, and to see parts of the world as they truly are, or at least closer to the real thing, then we have with our normal senses. He also states that artists, and poets, and visionaries, also have faulty filters, and are getting extra signals that allow them to perceive things in a different light.
Ok, lets leave that line of thought for a moment and move onto to something else.
At some point in his career Dr. Timothy Leary came up with a model of the brain that used circuits. He divided the kinds of consciousness into 8 different circuits. The idea is that you start out at one, and then go to two, then three, then four. And depending on what happens when you are in certain circuits’ shapes your view of the world. A good introduction to this is Prometheus Rising, by Robert Anton Wilson. But, four is the highest you can naturally go. To reach above 4, into 5, 6, 7, and 8, you have to have something happen to you. One of the easiest (in a way) ways to get into the higher circuits is through the use of psychedelics. Now, eight is the top. It is a circuit that represents, basically, near total enlightenment. One of the easiest ways to get straight to the 8th circuit is to have a near death experience. Apparently, by coming close to death you are shot into the 8th circuit.
Now, lets put that down for a minute, and move on to the final piece of the puzzle. The big question, what the hell is out there?
My take on things is a force that is at work in the universe. A force I call the “truths that can not be proven,” to use the term from Gospel Truth. It is my idea that this force is what is worshiped as god, by people all over the world. It is a guiding force that we unknowingly tap into every day. It's what we call intuition. And it is in this area that I get my idea that intuition is never wrong. Those wrong decisions are made by your rational mind, when you are unable to hear your intuition. The idea could also be put forth that intuition is the final scraps that are left of our unfiltered mind.
And now, lets start to put these pieces together.
The 8th circuit of the brain is as high as the human form can go; it is near total enlightenment. It can be reached by a near death experience. This circuit can also be compared to removing most of the filters on your mind. You still can't see things on the other side of the planet, and you might not be able to clearly read minds, but you are advanced in many other forms of thought and ideas. All, of this is near total enlightenment, or near removing all the filters. What would happen of you went all the way?
The idea I'm putting forth is that by removing all the filters that shackle your mind, you push through to a ninth circuit. The problem is, by walking through that gate, you rejoin the forces of the universe, and you become part of the “truths that can not be proven.” You, once again, can experience everything that is going on around you, and I mean that in the cosmic sense. Once you reach this state the human form holds no meaning to you. You have absolutely no use for it. And so you transcend it and move into a new state of being. You move into an area that is beyond comprehension. The next major step in evolution. And obviously the physical manifestation of such transcendence would be the physical death, of the physical form.
