UMBC TEXAQS/GoMACCS Project Page

In the late summer of 2006, we participated in the Texas Air Quality Study (TEXAQS 2006)/Gulf of Mexico Atmospheric Composition and Climate Study (GoMACCS) with the support of NASA's Tropospheric Chemsitry and Atmospheric Modeling and Analysis Programs. During TEXAQS/GoMACCS we will provide daily maps of tropospheric carbon monoxide and upper tropospheric ozone retrieved from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) in orbit onboard NASA's Aqua satellite. These maps are provided to support NOAA and NASA flight planning and subsequent data analysis and interpretation after the field experiment. As a member of the AIRS Science Team, Dr. McMillan is responsibile for development of AIRS CO retrievals into a standard product. This research is in collaboration with Dr. Chris Barnet (NOAA/NESDIS).
