UMBC TEXAQS/GoMACCS Project Page In the late summer of 2006, we participated in the Texas Air Quality Study (TEXAQS 2006)/Gulf of Mexico Atmospheric Composition and Climate Study (GoMACCS) with the support of NASA's Tropospheric Chemsitry and Atmospheric Modeling and Analysis Programs. During TEXAQS/GoMACCS we will provide daily maps of tropospheric carbon monoxide and upper tropospheric ozone retrieved from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) in orbit onboard NASA's Aqua satellite. These maps are provided to support NOAA and NASA flight planning and subsequent data analysis and interpretation after the field experiment. As a member of the AIRS Science Team, Dr. McMillan is responsibile for development of AIRS CO retrievals into a standard product. This research is in collaboration with Dr. Chris Barnet (NOAA/NESDIS).

• ABOVE The AIRS BBAERI Ocean Validation Experimet.
  We are deploying a suite of instruments including BBAERI (The Baltimore Bomem Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer), the UMBC ELF (Elastic Lidar Facility) and Vaisala GPS RS-90 Radiosondes to the USCG Chesapeake Lighthouse for validation of the AIRS (Atmospheric InfraRed Sounder) flying onboard NASA's Aqua satellite.
  
  
• CAMEX-3 The Third Convection And Moisture EXperiment.
  My primary involvement with CAMEX-3 comes from my work with the AIRS (Atmospheric InfraRed Sounder) project where I am involved with spectroscopic and forward model validation and upper tropospheric water vapor measurements. In addition, CAMEX-3 may offer an excellent opportunity for early post-launch validation of MOPITT CO.
  
  
• Validation of MOPITT CO - I am the principal investigator for a NASA project to use ground-, air-, and space-based infrared interferometer measurements to assist with validation of Measurement Of Pollution In The Troposphere (MOPITT) observations of carbon monoxide (CO). This work is supported by NASA's Mission to Planet Earth (MTPE) Earth Observing System (EOS).
  
  
• Carbon Monoxide data from WINCE - WINCE was the WINter Cloud Experiment performed from Madison, Wisconsin as part of the calibration and validation for MODIS (The MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer).
