| Format: | Bi-weekly lectures, frequent Quizzes,
Mid-term exam and comprehensive Final -- both including lab sections,
8-10 homework assignments, and 12 labs. |

| Lectures: | Lecture attendance is strongly suggested. Dr. McMillan will give unannounced Quizzes at any time. |
||||||||||||||||||
| Exams: | There will be one mid-term exam and one final exam.
There will be no early, late, or makeup exams! Absence = 0! Both exams will include laboratory sections. |
||||||||||||||||||
| Homework: | There will be 8-10 homework assignments of 5-20 problems each. Homework assignments are due before the start of class on the due date specified by Dr. McMillan. No late homework will be accepted! Late = 0! Multiple sheets should be stapled, do not use paperclips! | ||||||||||||||||||
| Labs: | Each student must perform the 12 assigned laboratory
experiments during the semester. Lab
reports are due before the start of class
one week after the experiment is performed except for Lab 12 (see lab schedule).
No late reports will be accepted! Late = 0! Lab
templates in MSword are available online (http://userpages.umbc.edu/~mcmillan/PHYSICS320/Labs2009/lab_index.html)
or from Dr. McMillan.
Raw lab data is to be recorded in pen on one copy of each lab handout. The final lab report will be typed and should contain ALL the necessary lab data, calculations, derivations, and answers to questions. Both the raw data copy (in lab) and the final copy should be stapled or clipped togther (final copy on top) and handed in as instructed. No paperclips! |
