Your World, Your Fight

5500 A.D.

the year of the apocalypse, the final chapter of mankind's reign

The world was experiencing what was undoubtedly its final war. The seven most brilliant and accomplished international scientists joined together in anticipation of mankind's destruction. In an attempt to survive the inevitable, they conspired to clone themselves. Their reincarnated personas would rise again after the remainder of the human race had vanquished itself, and they would reconstruct society as they preferred.

For several years previous they had witnessed society slowly destroying itself. They had all met years previous to the final world wars breaking out and formed a collective; each worked at the top technological and scientific tier of their respective governments. As the ruination progressed they had corresponded in secret, exploited the distraction of constant battle and their substantial government funding, and constructed their own lab base unbeknownst to the rest of the world.

The cloning machines were calibrated to automatically produce clones of the scientists on remote initialization; unfortunately all did not go according to plan. As humanity entered its final hours, Dr. Aleksei Barishnikov, the scientist responsible for initialization commencement, was given the go-ahead, but before anything could be done the base was infiltrated. Such a feat could only have been accomplished from within the group, and indeed Dr. Toshihiro Kobayashi sought to take the future into his own hands. In an effort to eliminate the other scientists, Kobayashi had unleashed a small but powerful robotic army to breach the base and destroy all cloning data but his own. After a short battle he was finally subdued, but not before wiping out the majority of genetic information.

After a brief wave of shock those remaining had mere hours to reinstate all they had done. There was not enough time to re-extract all necessary information. Dr. Ri Shen noted that all files containing mental functions and intellect were still intact for each individual and suggested that they temporarily transfer their mental abilities to non-human forms. After doing so they could then rejoin and collaborate to recreate themselves as desired. The only remaining information available to them was archives of enhanced animals they had used for testing and other bits and pieces of genetic material, some belonging to extraterrestrials never reported to society.

They had no choice; they would have to recreate temporary versions of themselves using what information they had. The transition was messy but successful, and they were able to think and mentally function as their human counterparts despite being encased in animal bodies. They had hoped to one day construct an improved society, but perhaps now the original human form would never again walk the earth.

The initial objective was to jointly rule the new population, but it was soon realized that each of these individuals, possessed their own personal vision of how to reinstate humanity, and thus conflict broke out amongst them. Will you ally with your antebellum compatriots or fight to take control of an empire that is rightfully yours?
