Instructions for Completing and Submitting Your Term Paper (400 points)
Your final paper should be 12-15 double-spaced pages, written using WordPerfect or Microsoft Word set to 10 or 12 pt. font (use a standard font such as Times New Roman or Courier.) We will be using the Turnitin.com web service for your final papers and you will also bring 2 print copies of your final paper to class. Turnitin.com is a good way to archive papers submitted for HIST 201. It is also a good tool for evaluating the proper use of citations.
To summarize: you are going to need 2 print and 2 digital copies of your final paper.
1) Turn 1 digital copy into Turnitin.com (You
will need to make your paper one file for this submission. That means that you
need to save the title page, paper, and bibliography as one file for submission)
2) Post 1 digital copy on your Group Discussion Board. (You will need to make
your paper one file for this submission. That means that you need to save the
title page, paper, and bibliography as one file for submission).
3) Bring two print copies to
the Department of History frontdesk, Administration Building 7th floor.
3) Be sure your paper includes a thesis
statement, preferably in the first paragraph. Your first paragraph should also
describe the paper's scope.
4) Put page numbers on every page after the title page. Page numbers should be in Arabic
numbers ((1, 2, 3, etc.), not Roman Numerals (I, II, III, etc.)
5) Be sure to properly format footnote/endnote citations (according to MLA
rules, not APA). You may use either
footnotes or endnotes.
6) Be sure your bibliography follows the format specified for this class (see
the Prospective Bibliography assignment).
