PROGRESS REPORT
GUIDELINES: This report is written in
memo form; it focuses on your progress in completing the formal report
due the last day of class. You will discuss the work you have completed
and will complete as well as discuss any problems you might have encountered.
AUDIENCE: depends on whether
your formal report is related to your job or your major. You can
always use me as the audience.
LENGTH: 1-2 pages
FORMAT: Don't forget to
begin with the mandatory memo elements.

Introduction: Briefly explain the project
you're working on.

Past work: Discuss all the work you have
completed.

Present work: Discuss all the work you
are working on now.

Future work: Discuss the work that you
have left to do.

Conclusion: Discuss how you feel the
project is progressing. If everything is fine, say so. If you have had
any difficulties, explain what they are and how you coped with them
MECHANICS: Write in the active voice
since you are explaining what you have achieved. If the memo is longer than one page, across the top
of the subsequent pages put the audience's name, the page number and the
date. Be sure to use headings for each section. You may organize
the information in any way you wish; for instance, you might
combine past and present work. Be sure your headings make your
organization clear.
